Back in the Studio

My break from teaching to move and settle my mom into her new place in Las Cruces was successful. She is adjusting well and is glad to be released from the O2 line since she doesn’t need supplemental O2 here at a lower altitude. Family is also adjusting to seeing her here rather than in Santa Fe. We are settling into a routine of lunches together a few times a week. She fills her days with the relaxation that better care and full retirement provides. I am feeling so blessed to be able to facilitate all of this for her and as stressful as moving and transitions are, it was all worth it.

I am happy to be teaching again in person in the Downtown Desert Yoga Studio for my noon Monday Yoga/Healing Touch class as well as alternating teaching the Wednesday evening zoom Yin/Nidra class with Bernice.

To sign up for either of these classes please go to https://downtowndesertyoga.com/classes

Restorative/Healing Touch: Monday 12:00pm In studio only. Must be vaccinated and have boosters. Class is limited to 8 students. To receive Healing Touch consent will be requested.

Yin/Nidra: Wednesday 7:00pm Zoom attendance only. This class is open to LCPS. Bernice and I share teaching. We alternate on a 2 week schedule. I teach Nov. 23rd and Nov. 30th. Bernice teaches for Dec. 7th and 14th. I will be out of town until the new year when we resume Jan 4th 2023.

Private Healing Touch treatments are now available at my home. The price will be increasing beginning January 2023. Initial intake $100.00. Follow-up treatments are $75.00.

Happy Holidays to all!
Hope to see you soon.

New developments

“Each little thing that we so easily took for granted, now becomes part of our bone woven prayers. To see your face again, the wrinkled smile, the salt tears of your longing for just a moment of tender love. Where the heart opens, the touch of flesh, your beautiful face, a glint of your eyes fire, feeling your fingers wrapped around these old hands as we remember, just remember.” Deja Hu

There are so many new developments it is difficult to know where to start.
I will be taking some time off from teaching yoga to help my Mom transition from her home of 38 years to a downsized place that can accommodate her needs. Downtown Desert Yoga has been a fabulous place to work.... I have never worked in a studio as supportive, peaceful, and inclusive as the staff of DDY. Hopefully I will be able to sneak teach live-streaming in between the trips to and from Santa Fe. For now I don't have a return date so thank you from my deepest heart to all my loyal students. But I will teach again!

I have a new website, AnnieHealingArts or AHA, under construction that will be up soon with a broader range of services. My original artwork from a vast array of subjects will be on display and available for print or sale.
My involvement in community art will be in the Sonoma Ranch Magazine as an article printing later in February about local artists. I will post all of that when I have links.

I just wanted to update everyone, we will be in touch. Remember to live like a lotus, at home and at peace, on the radiant journey through the muddy water.

Thankfully we are becoming more aware and accepting of the diverse orientation and identity possible in human sexual expression. Which is why it is so surprising to me to be so often referred to collectively as “guys”. Even if all the persons in the group are female or at least present publicly that way. I have become more sensitive to this erroneous expression after noting its use 10- 15 times in a day out in public venues. Those using this term are of all ages but more prevalent in younger speakers. It is usually obvious that people are using the term unconsciously, habitually and without malice but think about it: Are we all “guys”? Do we have to perpetuate exclusionary language? I know that in the past I have, but I try to do better when I know better. The American Heritage Dictionary definition of guy: 1. N. a rope, cord, or cable used to steady, guide, or secure something. 2. N. Informal A man; a fellow. 3. guys N. Informal Persons of either sex. The next two definitions refer to British usage. While still very common, it should now be seen as exclusive rather than inclusive. Language is dynamic and rightly so to reflect a new perspective in usage and social acceptance. Much the same way slang words have always morphed in meaning. Calling them by their name if you know it, is always effective but sometimes not recommended if the person you are speaking to is seeking anonymity. Let's become accustomed to the many alternatives to a word that excludes half the population. I can offer folks, you all, you two, three, or four. All y’all, ladies and gents, kind people, my friends, loyal customers and yes even “guys and gals” if it is appropriate.

Downtown Desert Yoga has stopped using Zoom for live-streaming yoga classes. When you sign up for a class you will automatically be sent the connecting information to attend the class. Your same Mindbody login is used to access the live-streaming classes.

If you are registering for the first time you will need to start a Mindbody account and upon registration for a class you will be sent an email with an access link. Those of you who have already done this step should have this email already. If you cannot find the access link you can always go to the Services page on my site and access them there.

Please also note that the times for the Monday Restorative/Healing Touch class and Wednesday Back to Health class have changed and now run from 11am-12pm. The Wednesday evening class are as usual.

Please don't hesitate to contact Downtown Desert Yoga to resolve any issues you may be having and we look forward to seeing you in class!

Remote Healing Touch Available

Personal Remote Healing Touch treatments are now available in the New Year .

A super way to receive treatment without the contact risk. No need to go anywhere outside your home.

To book a session go to www.amurielyoga.com Services page for a description. Please Contact me to set up an appointment time. To pay, go to the bottom of the PayPal interface on the services page, choose Healing Touch Intake Session $75.00 for a 1st session or HT $50.00/session if you have been treated before. Use your credit card or Paypal to complete the transaction.

An email with an initial Intake Form attachment will be sent. It should be completed and sent back prior to the appointment. You prepare a home treatment environment that is in a private, comfortable place to lay down and relax without interruptions for about 1.5 hours.

I will call at the appointment time using Facetime, What'sApp, Zoom, or just audio (at your discretion) to review the Intake Form and update for current healing energy needs. At this point we can end the phone call or keep the connection for more of an auditory guided meditation during the session. If we end the call we will arrange to call after the session or plan for later debriefing to allow you to integrate the treatment.

As the session starts, you orient yourself face up on a bed or recliner in your home in the quiet, peaceful, private setting. From my side, as if you are on my table at my home, I begin the remote treatment using techniques chosen to address your personal current and chronic issues. Initial sessions usually last 1.5 hours, subsequent treatments are 1 hour.

Disengaging from your energy field after the treatment phase, I then make notes as you assimilate the therapy for a few minutes.

We debrief at the scheduled time to evaluate the treatment, discuss any change in energy issues, and offer feedback and recommendations. You will receive an electronic copy of the documented session.

For an appointment or questions please contact me. I hope to hear from you soon.

Wisdom from my Spirit Guides

"When we signed up for a human experience, we agreed that we will feel pain, anger, hopelessness at times. This is an exacerbated experience that is shared with all humanity at present due to the pandemic spreading throughout the world. The result of emotional and mental pain due to this is not ours to keep, but a wake up call to express loving concern for all humanity. Put feelings aside, heal what we can, send the rest to the light so it can be conquered. You signed up for this, as did all others in humanity, you don't need to let it harm your body. Don't let negative human emotions destroy the beauty of the relationship. Send the concerns to the light."
These words were heard during a remote Healing Touch treatment by my HT buddy, Janet, who wrote them down to enlighten and guide me. They give me great solace.... I hope for you as well.

Healing Touch in the time of CoVid-19

Expanding my teaching repertoire to include live streaming yoga classes was almost unthinkable 6 months ago when I felt adding another class would be a challenge. I am very grateful for the encouragement and assistance from DDY. What a joy to work with this crew!
This post is also directed to the loyal and dedicated yoginis for coming with me on this journey through the muddy water. Thank you!

The sadness I feel about the Covid restrictions deepens as I contemplate the changes it has and will bring to the concept of touch. From vital and life affirming to possible fear and avoidance.

Live-streaming the yoga classes and various meeting sites have blunted the edge of isolation but I am someone that requires human touch. The elder population is often starving for gentle touch. Isolation protocols, although absolutely necessary, put an extra burden on the sick and dying. Instead of being able to be supportive and caring, family might feel like they are helpless to visit because they don't want to risk exposing Grandpa.

Prayers and thoughts may seem woefully inadequate in the face of such misery and sadness. A big part of our coping mechanisms for dealing with grief involve close sharing , compassionate touch, and speech. I believe the compassionate efforts we make everyday for  ourselves, our families, friends, community and the wider world are being tested during this present crisis. We may not see how those compassionate efforts exponentially expand to unite the human race for it's highest good but we can rest in the surety that focusing on the hope and peace of the mundane, backyard beauty in summer and fall really do shape the world.

To lighten your perspective: Conjure powerfully with Intention.

Conjure has roots in Latin: to pray by something holy, to affect or produce, to summon up, imagine.

Remote Healing Touch is a regular part of the Monday Restorative live streaming class. My certifying organization, Healing Beyond Borders has been offering and promoting long distance healing for many years. Some practitioners use it regularly for patients that are unreachable otherwise. I have traded and documented Remote HT treatments with another CHTP colleague for 5 years. Currently there is little research done specifically to determine the effective mode of action of Remote Healing Touch vs Guided Meditation. Certified Healing Touch Practitioners (CHTP) document sessions and consistently refer this data back to Healing Beyond Borders. Participating in these sessions takes an active role in furthering our knowledge of energy work and its many benefits.

Personal Remote Healing Touch sessions are now available by appointment. please go to my contact page to book a session.
